Case Studies

Client:
University of Melbourne Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning
Venue:
Melbourne School of Design building
Architect:
John Wardle Architects, Melbourne and NADAAA, Boston
Brief and Work Completed:

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is Australia's leading educational centre in the built environment. They conducted an international design competition in 2009, which attracted 133 submissions from 15 countries from which they selected two Architects to design the building. The building has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star Design - Education Design v1 rating by the Green Building Council of Australia.

The design has unique features such as the suspended studios, the flexible workspaces and the exposed Y-stairs. The Seatery were commissioned to provide seating and other upholstery for the project. They upholstered banquette seating in a block type style, with squares, rectangles and other odd geometric shapes, varying in size in a woollen fabric supplied by Kvadart Maharam.
